UIU-USA Breaking News

BREAKING NEWS

Fellow Umuojians:

We are delighted to announce that Umuoji Boys High School has regained accreditation for the Senior Secondary School (SS1-SS3) which was lost due to deplorable state of infrastructure, poor staffing and dwindling student enrollment. This outstanding accomplishment was made possible by the timely involvement of UIU-USA, starting from 2007 National Convention in Houston, Texas. Based on the good faith effort and financial contributions of UIU-USA towards the renovation and reconstruction of Umuoji Boys High School, the authorities in Umuoji had reasonable ground to approach the government in Awka. While thanking them for their assiduousness, We would like to express our profound gratitude to all Umuojians whose selfless contributions made this possible.

Other Developments:

1) New Name for Umuoji Boys High School – Community Secondary School, Umuoji

Atlanta Peace Mission - A Success

My Dear People of Umuoji:

On Sunday, August 18, 2008, His Royal Highness, Dr. C. N Enweze, Igwe of Umuoji, Ebube Igwulube Okodu, Ochilu Ozua, took his peace initiative to a different level when he and his entourage stormed Columbus, Georgia for a reconciliatory reunion of Atlanta Branch. His wealth of knowledge, experience, words of wisdom and charismatic approach to resolution of interpersonal and group differences resulted in another historical milestone in the history of UIU-USA.

It is with great joy that I announce that Atlanta Branch has demonstrated an enviable spirit of oneness worthy of emulation. As peace prevailed at the reunion, members put the past behind them and joined hands together in building a formidable branch, free of bitterness and rancour. Above all, they pledged to go the extra mile in propagation the course of UIU-USA. Special thanks to the Igwe of Umuoji for the peace initiative and the sacrifice made in co-coordinating and executing a spectacular peace mission.

HRH Dr C.N. Enweze requested for this crucial reunion, the company of the National President, Dr. Fidelis Onyimba, National President Emeritus, Engr. Cletus Okonkwo and our able National Vice President, Dr Adaeze Muoghalu. Considering the sensitive nature of this mission, the National Executive Committee supported the initiative. Thanks to the National Executive Committee for their prudence. Special thanks to the National Executive Committee delegation for their enormous sacrifices and contributions to the peace and unification agenda.

Thanks to the Atlanta Branch Chairman, Chief Anthony Okeke-Ekpe (Nnaebue) and his wife for hosting the branch reunion and for their effort toward the peace agenda. Furthermore, I would like to thank them for the red carpet reception and hospitality. To Dr. Frank Onukwuili (Ochubalu Enyi), National Vice President Emeritus and his wife, I say thank you for your quest for lasting peace and demonstration of love for Atlanta branch and UIU-USA at large. Thanks to Dr Douglas Mgbemena (Ezennia) and his wife for their support for the peace effort and their contribution towards the stability and prosperity of Atlanta Branch in particular and UIU-USA in general.

While thanking the elder Statesmen of Atlanta Branch, I would like to express my profound gratitude to Ik Oforje (Ezennia) for positive contribution to the branch, Mrs. Uche Azih (Electric) for her commitment to the reconciliation effort, and Mr. and Mrs. Emeka Okeke-Epke for their support. The gracious contribution of Mrs. Uche Onwuzulike and family remains a treasure for the branch. Thanks to Engr. and Mrs. Bisi Ogene for maintaining a classy stance and supporting the peace effort in many ways. Though physically absent from the reunion, due to circumstances beyond their control, Chief Sam Muolokwu (Nnabuenyi) and his wife were present in spirit and by phone. Their contribution towards the peace agenda cannot be over emphasized. They were truly missed. To our guest from Nigeria, Mrs Muoghalu, I say thanks for gracefully assisting the hosts as they entertained all Umuojians at the reunion.

Ladies and Gentlemen, this reunion was one of a kind and word cannot describe the feeling of relief, joy and happiness on the faces of the great men and women of Atlanta Branch. What started as a formal gathering gradually turned into an informal but civilized, engaging and playful conversation among peers.

On behalf of UIU-USA National Executive Committee, I would like to say hearty congratulations to HRH Dr C. N. Enweze, the Atlanta Branch and the entire UIU-USA on the success of Atlanta Peace Mission.

Long Live Atlanta Branch! Long UIU-USA!! Long Live UIU-Nigeria!!!
